who we are

Anthony

anthony wayment nel

founding partner and managing director

Anthony started his career in London, working with Endemol on “Fame Academy” and “Shattered”. Leaving the UK to focus on advertiser-funded programmes and commercial work, he later became Endemol’s head of creative for South Africa, East Africa and Nigeria, based in Johannesburg. Love led to a move to Cape Town, where he took up the role of head of the creative department at Okuhle Media. Then it was time to birth his own company, The TVSMITHS, and more than survive the roller coaster ride it entails, he has actually thrived. Anthony has carved out an enviable niche in the edutainment space, but he relishes an insatiable appetite for all quality entertainment and making beautiful, innovative programmes that push boundaries.

Vusani

vusani mlilo

co-partner and director of digital communications

Vusani loves all things digital and considers himself an unashamed technology geek. Though passionate about staying on top – and ahead – of global trends in the field, he also has a keen interest in international current affairs, culture and science. He has successfully managed online strategies for youth entertainment programmes such as “Hectic Nine-9”, an award-winning South African television series. He has also developed innovative digital strategies for key local retail brands as well as international non-governmental organisations. Having worked with Anthony on several television and internet media initiatives for HOW MANY years, Vusani finally agreed to become his partner in The TVSMITHS in 2019.

Tarryn

TARRYN TOMLINSON

director of people

With a passion for people and making a positive social impact, Tarryn brims with “joie de vivre”. Though she studied marketing management for a better understanding of the field, her true passion is the psychology behind why we do what we do. She subsequently founded The Bambini Dream Foundation to help underprivileged youth tap into their innate power. She is also a motivational speaker, life coach and consultant to the hospitality industry on inclusivity for people with disabilities. A wheelchair user herself, Tarryn has a keen understanding of the challenges they encounter both at work and at home. At The TVSMITHS, she work tirelessly to change stereotypical perceptions of differently abled people through the insightful use of various media.
